Upcoming Programs
At Bitterbrush Music, our focus is on providing structured chamber music education. Utah musicians—both children and adults of various skill levels—join our program from across Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, and Summit counties to develop their collaborative playing skills. The program is designed around a full academic year of weekly faculty coachings, student-led rehearsals, and scheduled semester performances, offering a practical and supportive environment for ensemble training.
Fall 2026 - Spring 2027
Who Can Apply?
This program is open to both children and adults, from beginners to advanced players. To ensure a collaborative and successful ensemble experience, all participants must meet the following criteria:
- Basic Literacy: Must be able to read music at a minimal level.
- Preparation: A willingness to practice your assigned parts at home between sessions.
- Attendance: A commitment to attending your weekly scheduled sessions.
Program Structure
Our curriculum balances professional faculty guidance with independent ensemble growth:
- Weekly Faculty Coachings: Every ensemble works directly with a member of the Bitterbrush faculty (which includes members of the Sky Island Quartet) each week to learn and polish their repertoire. Coachings will be held in Salt Lake County, UT.
- Semester Concerts: Ensembles will perform in one major concert each semester, culminating in a combined performance in the spring.
Additional Performance Opportunities
We love connecting our musicians with the local arts community! While not guaranteed, extra performance opportunities frequently arise throughout the year based on community needs. Exciting examples of where our students have been invited to perform include:
- Serving as the opening act for the American West Symphony
- Featured showcases at the Midvale Art House
- Local community festivals and pop-up events
